Who we are
I’m Adara Chaleigh Van Ravenswaay, the owner and operator of NSK9’s based in Wichita, KS. Dog training has been my passion and a huge part of my entire life. I grew up with Mini Schnauzers, however Dobermans are my heart breed. Trick training is also absolutely where my heart is. Shilas (pictured left) won Best of Breed in the AKC National Trick Dog Competition in 2023; Kato (pictured right) won Best of Breed in 2024. This is in addition to numerous achievements in various sports that my four dogs have earned, we strive to showcase versatility. Shilas is 2nd fastest Doberman in the nation 2024 and 7th of all time. Kato is also a cardiac alert dog for a medical condition I have, he’s highly skilled and assists me everywhere I go.
I strive to help each dog I meet reach their maximum potential while working within each handler and dogs comfort zones with my training approaches. I’ve studied and learned multiple training methods over the years from Positive Only, to L.I.M.A. (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive), to Balanced, to Relationship Based, to Performance Training. No matter what method a dog benefits from, I put my bond with the dog first. Training is never a one method fits all, each dog will require their own training plan. I’ve helped many different breeds of dogs with widely varying goals for training. From the pet needing obedience skills, to performance athletes, medical alert dogs, and raising puppies. I am also an AKC Evaluator and can help you earn titles for your canine companion. Dogs are versatile and capable of nearly anything, but it’s us humans that must to learn how to best communicate with our canines while simultaneously building our bond. The bond is the prioirty. Once you achieve this, the possibilities are endless.
